Well, look at the package versions and the date. This is Fedora Core 2 already. You should give more details on what you've done between your original posting (where an upgrade failed) and these later messages.

When I last asked your for output of "yum list libstdc\*", you reported back with a libstdc++ newer than Fedora Core 3. Now you say the old one from Fedora Core 1 would be installed.

rpm -qa 'libstdc*'

would tell. But above can be seen, that you upgraded to mysql packages on Feb 2nd, which are newer than FC2's. You really should keep track of what you install and from where you install. Full output browsable with "rpm -qa --last | less".

Man it's a crazy game of cat and mouse even trying this...Any solutions? If it doesn't work I guess I'll be forced to pray I haven't screwed the box up enough incase of a reboot due to power flashes.

Let's get back to an earlier post:

Quote:
Looking in Installed Packages:
Name Arch Version Repo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
libstdc++ i386 3.4.3-17 db
libstdc++-devel i386 3.3.2-1 db
If you run rpm -qa 'libstdc*', do you still get above packages? Because according to your more recent posts, a different libstdc++ version is installed.

Quote:
.......Unable to satisfy dependencies
Package libstdc++-devel needs libstdc++ = 3.3.3-7, this is not available.
Package gcc-c++ needs libstdc++ = 3.3.3, this is not available.
No other errors. If these are the only ones, you can remove them just fine with "rpm -e libstdc++-devel gcc-c++", as the -devel package is only for software development, and you could reinstall the C++ compiler at a later point.

Quote:
error: Failed dependencies:
cpp = 3.3.3-7 is needed by gcc-3.3.3-7
libgcc >= 3.3.3-7 is needed by gcc-3.3.3-7
libstdc++ = 3.3.2 is needed by (installed) gcc-c++-3.3.2-1
libstdc++-devel = 3.3.2 is needed by (installed) gcc-c++-3.3.2-1

gcc = 3.3.2-1 is needed by (installed) gcc-gnat-3.3.2-1
gcc = 3.3.2-1 is needed by (installed) gcc-java-3.3.2-1
Because you would need to upgrade cpp, libgcc, gcc\* if you ran rpm manually. More convenient would be to use

yum update libstd\* cpp libgcc gcc\*

for that.
