Upgrading from FC1 to FC2

Hi,

I searched through the forum but couldn't find any satisfactory answer. So posting this kinda often asked question.

I'm running FC1. I have done a lot of tweaks and modified several config files under /etc/.

My questions:
1. How do I upgrade from FC1 to FC2? Several threads state that it can't be done from FC2 installation CDs. Is that true? I thought the CDs ask a "do you wanna upgrade?" kinda question.

2. If I successfully upgrade, will be config files be safe or will I have to redo the config stuff under /etc?

3. Does bluetooth work well in 2.6 Kernel? Remember reading the bluez was broken in Kernel 2.6? Is it true?

Guess thats about it for now.

Thanks,
Sarav

You can simply back up your data, to be safe (like your home directory), then download the FC2 iso's and during the install select the upgrade option.

Does that preserve the configs?

Hi,

Does that preserve the configs I made under /etc? I know it preserves the configs that are saved under the $HOME dir.

Also, I was wondering about all the unused libraries -- meaning, FC1 needs some libraries for binaries coming along with FC1. FC2 might not have those binaries anymore (for some reason!) - what will happen to those unused libraries? Is there a way of removing unused libraries? I understand if some libraries are upgraded in FC2 the old libraries get deleted (that is only the new version exists).

Thanks

~Sarav
