tv tuner setup using cx8800

I have a WIndfast pvr2000... I'm attemping to use the .4 version of cx8800. When I do a dmesg it tells me that it autodetected as a generic card. I want to try to force it to use card number 9 using the ismod... it says 'card=<n> insmod option:' but i can't figure out how i'm supposed to use that... I'm running Fedora core 3.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Use modprobe, it's a little easier, and does the same thing as insmod:

Code:
modprobe cx8800 card=9
Or if you prefer, add a line to the end of /etc/modprobe.conf:

Code:
options cx8800 card=9
Then any time you do

Code:
modprobe cx8800
it'll automatically use the card=9 option. (If you're using a 2.4.x kernel, you need to edit /etc/modules.conf instead of /etc/modprobe.conf, but the principle's the same).

You'll need to be root to do any of this.
