streaming audio video for Fedora 2

I want something to play all the streaming stuff i browse on the web and also if i put a dvd in too i want to be able to watch it despite the mad encryption stuff they put on these days.

I want it for fedora core 2 and i would liek the installation to be a piece of cake and all the codecs would leap in too.

SHould i move back to windows? haha! Or is there * a way* ?

First, get a nifty little prog called apt-get, you can get that at fresh rpms. (which is in your gftp favorites by default.) After installing that (rpm -ivh aptblabla.rpm ) type: "apt-get update". Wait till it's finished. Than type: "apt-get install synaptic". Wait again. When it's finished, installing just about anything is easier then you ever saw it in windows. Just type: "synaptic" at the command line. (as root) you'll see what i mean. Don't forget to click "update list" before you do anything else, every time you start synaptic. You probably want mplayer and/or videolan, the xmms mp3 plugin and the Mozilla-flash plugin. Mozilla will ask you what to do when click a media stream, tell it to either use videolan or gmplayer.

I can watch just about anything, except for shockwave-stuff. Maybe someone else can tell you how to do that, Í haven't tried to get that working yet, never needed it.
