RPM database error while installing using yum in fedora core 6


Hi everyone

while installing audacious using the following command in yum in fedora core 6 i am getting
error

yum -y install audacious audacious-plugins-nonfree-mp3

Error :

even the language is changing....
some different script is coming...

this error is coming recently after reinstalling fedora ....
previously i didnt get this error even atleast once..........


After this error i am unable to use yum for updates ..
i need to restart the system

Please help me to solve the prolem

Thanks for your quick reply

May I know the reason for the database error
I have been using fedora for the past 4 months...
i didnt get this error previously....

i am unable to install xmms in fedora 6 by the following command

yum -y install xmms xmms-mp3

it is showing that libgtk.1.2.so is not available

i have added the livna and freshrpms repositories even then its not working
so i serched in net for the package in fedora 6.
i didnt find package for fedora 6 ...i found for others like mandriva,suse....etc

Please help me to install xmms

I have seen this problem only when I upgrade/change any of the libraries use by "rpm". The quick fix is to go to /var/lib/rpm and remove db_*. This will force rpm to rebuild the db the next time you run it.

Not necessarily, I recall updating rpm program itself once and corrupting the database (Mandrake 9.2) or your hard drive could be going bad even.

Usually it gets corrupted because something writing to it terminated unexpectedly though. Hit reset during a yum update and that's the likely result.
