After upgrading a laptop from Redhat 7.2 to FC2, the sound is gone. The FC2 installation did not recognise the sound card (NeoMagic NM2).
The working modules.conf in RH7.2 looked like this:
Code:
alias snd opl3sa2
options sound dmabuf=1
options opl3sa2 mss_io=0x530 irq=11 dma=0 dma2=1 mpu_io=0x330 io=0x370
alias midi opl3
options opl3 io=0x388
In FC2, modprobe.conf looks like this:
Code:
alias eth0 3c59x
alias usb-controller uhci-hcd
I tried modprobing snd_opl3sa2 eg;
modprobe snd-opl3sa2 sb_port=0x220 midi_port=0x330 wss_port=0x370 fm_port=0x530 port=0x388 irq=11 dma1=0 dma2=1
but all I can get is:
FATAL: Error inserting snd_opl3sa2 (/lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/kernel/sound/isa/snd-opl3sa2.ko): No such device
and a message in dmesg:
Yamaha OPL3-SA soundcard not found or device busy
Can anyone give me clue? Am I doing something stupid, or something is broken? Is it possible to use the OSS opl3sa2 module with the 2.6 kernel? I would like to have the sound working, but I would hate to go back to the 2.4 kernel.
Thanks
Laszlo
