no graphical reboot and shutdown... ?

I've installed Ubuntu three times and now Fedora. On first login, there are shutdown and restart buttons. but after rebooting, usually just once, those two buttons disappear and I'm forced to use the terminal for those two options.

Any ideas? I'd really rather not have to use the terminal every time, it's just a pain in the ass... and I'm a lazy bastard.

Figured it out... had to hand edit the config file.

/etc/gdm/custom.cnf

[greeter]
BackgroundType=1
DefaultWelcome=false
Welcome=Herzlich willkommen
SystemMenu=false
Logo=/usr/share/pixmaps/gdm-foot-logo.png
GraphicalTheme=Bluecurve

I made it true and it's all good now :P
