What do ya know, so that's where yum put the icon.
Once the hwbrowser package is installed icon will be under System --> Administration --> Hardware in GNOME's menu. Could have sworn the FC4 package put it in System Tools though... anyway.
So, you can skip the alacarte installation then, unless Linspire-like idiot proofing bothers you as much as it does me, in which case you'll probably want to keep it and rename menu entries like "email" and "word processor" to "Evolution" and "OpenOffice Writer".
