hardware details are not showing properly in hwconfig


Dear all ,

I want to know how does /etc/sysconfig/hwconf will be updated .
does only kudzu deals with this file ,or any other components also deals
with this file for changing hardware details .

if one of my card details not showing properly what may be the problem . The same card working properly with other vers0ion of OS .

can anybody tell why it happens

Provide more details please..

And does the hardware show up properly by dmesg and or /sbin/lspci ?

yes in both cases lspci shows HW details correctly.

one more thig i want to know who will create
/etc/sysconfig/hwconf.
what utilities ,scripts will update this file

What distro and why is this particular file that important? Can't you just use lspci and or cat /proc/whatever to determine your hardware type?
