Have you installed KDE? If so, from your login manager (GDM I guess?) simply press the 'Session' button and choose 'KDE' before the clicking the 'Login' button. If you do not already have KDE installed, install it via your package manager and then make your change via GDM. You can choose to remember your prefered windowmanager so you don't need to keep selecting it. Of course, you can revert back to Gnome or any other windowmanager by clicking back on 'Session' and choosing a different WM.

You can make KDE your default GUI by editing this file as root "/etc/sysconfig/desktop" just change it from "GNOME" to "KDE" then log out of root befor anything gets messed up and when you login from now on the default will be KDE

Easier yet is to type at any command line,
[you@yourbox ~]$switchdesk kde
There is a manual,
[you@yourbox ~]$ man switchdesk
Editing that file as root is not necessary, and would impose kde on other users(if any) of your computer.
switchdesk allows individual users to choose their prefered desktop by placing a config file in their home directories.

There are actually two settings you need to change to use KDE "all the way." My /etc/sysconfig/desktop looks like this:
Code:
$ cat /etc/sysconfig/desktop
DESKTOP="KDE"
DISPLAYMANAGER=KDE
The first line changes the default GUI to KDE.
The second line makes kdm the default display manager.

The advantage of the using kdm as the display manager (instead of the default gdm) is that kdm impliments the Switch User function, permitting multiple login to different users or GUIs on one system. (The Switch User will "automagicaly" be added to the KDE menus when you boot with kdm enabled.)

CAUTION: If you use rhgb, your logon screen will be different from the default gdm one you're used to seeing, and changing the GNOME login screen settings will seem to have no effect. To change the KDE login screen, look under "System Administration" in the "Preferences" group.
