jdk.java plugin and firefox problem

Hi,

I was going the forum and came across this post, I too am having this problem but I have seen your solution and did exactly what you have posted but still my java plugin is missing and for example, when I try this web site http://www.dbs.com.sg and select Singapore for IB, the missing plugin will display telling me that I need to install my java, but I have already done everything I need to do but still have no idea why my java does not work.

Could you somehow advice me of how to go about to resolve this java problem.

Thx

Too many posts, and I'm too lazy to read all of those... anyway, here are my experiences regarding Java on FC7.

I recently installed FC7 twice (was forced to replace some hardware including MB, CPU, RAM, HDD, ...) after first install.
Anyway, the first time I installed it, I couldn't make Limewire install 'cause Sun java couldn't be detected on my system. This never happened to me before. After installing FC7 again, and installing JDK1.6u2, Firefox plugin wouldn't work, BUT, Java1.5.0_12 plugin worked just fine. Since I'm the only user on the system, I simply place the plugin link in ~user/.mozilla/plugins/
Now, when I tried to use Java1.6u2 plugin, Firefox didn't report it missing anymore, but it didn't work. The other one works just fine.

Also, if I remember correctly, I was able to install Limewire only after installing jre1.5.0_12 (JDK1.6u2 didn't work), and it didn't take any additional tuning (like I had to do on FC6) than installing it.

Hope someone here finds this useful.

This works...

I found this fix and it works great. I installed the the i386 version of Firefox that runs on the i86_64 versions of Fedora so that my flash would work and then I followed the instructions in this fix to get my java plugin installed.... Worked great..
