Problem solved. It was the TP-Link router. Bought a new router. Linksys wired router (no wireless) and everything is back to the way it was before I started using the TP-Link. So problem not really solved in the sense of why TP-Link was doing this but I'm OK with that. Linux users: stay away from TP-Link routers.
