Installing W32codecs-all


# rpm -ivh w32codec-all-20061022-0.pm.0.i586.rpm

What version of mplayer and xine is compatible with w32codec-all-20061022-0.pm.0.i586.rpm.
I don't want to have to install a older version of W32codecs to get it to work.

The win32 codecs package you are trying to install is for Suse and not Fedora Core. You can get the source package for the codecs from the mplayer website and extract the contents to /usr/lib/win32 and create symlinks to it in /usr/lib/codecs and /usr/local/codecs.

What about w32codecs for Xine, mplayerhu binaries are for mplayer only?

The codecs work on mplayer, xine and other media players. They are just packaged and maintained by the mplayer devs.
