install fails to find USB cdrom (but boots from it)

Attempting to install Fedora 1.91 from USB DVD/CDROM (on Thinkpad). Boots from CD just fine, but installer fails after asking what media to install from - when selecting local CDROM, reports 'no devices of selected type found'. I note that as anaconda launches it reports loading the 'usb-storage' driver...

any clues how to get anaconda to see the USB CD/DVD ?

Hardware is

Thinkpad X31
Freecom traveller USB DVDROM/CDRW

thanks.

I've got the same issue only on a tablet PC.

Any suggestions on getting this to work would be reatly appreciated.
