i cant run any terminal strings and sound card issues

ok i just installed fc4 and it wont detect my sound card. i tried useing a string in termial and none of the strings worked. i dont know how to get yum to work nor anything else in terminal and all i want is sound. my sound card is a (crystal wdm-mpu-401) (legacy audio drivers) got that info from windows device manager. plz help with this. i was gonna go out and replace the sound card but none i found said use with linux. my sound card is an onboard sound card.

What kind of "strings" did you try using in the terminal?

the sndconfig isnt working but i did end up finally getting commands to work i guess i was typing it in wrong or something. i went out and bought another sound card and now when i go in to test the sound card it works but wont save the setting it shows me 3 tabs at top 2 of the cs cards and the new one but it wont stay on the cs card i need it to.
