how to install FC1 by ftp, *without* floppy ?

as I understand from fedora homepage, if I want to install FC (1) by net (ftp), then I must use floppy and download several images to create several floppies
is there any better way, let say, just download 1 iso and created 1 CD ?
thanks

Hello.

I'm not absolutly shore of what I'm saying ( ) but dependes on your installation, I downloaded the 3 iso from the fedora site, burbed into cd's and install at my plesure. With my installation I used every 3 cd's but depending on what you want to install you may just need 1 or 2.

Installing from the ftp directly, I don't know, I prefer to have the cd's because if something happens to the systems I can use the cd's to repair it or install all over again.

Hope I helped. Anything let me know

You can do an ftp install (assuming you have an ftp server from which to install -- I don't know if there are public, ftp-installable servers out there) from just CD1. The trick is to force the installer to ask you what type of install (ftp, nfs, http, etc) you would like to do since it will normally default to a cd-based install. Boot from CD1 and when you find yourself at the "boot:" prompt, type

linux askmethod

That will start the installer and cause it to ask if you want to do an ftp (or other) install.

Its actually very easy, just download the boot.iso file from the images folder and burn this to a blank CDR/W. Make sure you've noted down a fast FTP server to use for the install though.
