How to do a Fedora 9 upgrade install?

I have been having the worst time trying to figure out how to make a Fedora 9 upgrade install work on my Dell Dimension 4600. The big problem is that it can't boot off the DVD drive I have in it and so I seem to be stuck trying to boot off CDs. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with that, but the instructions are circular and incomplete. The Fedora Live CD only wants to do full installs, which I am not prepared to do. Can anyone tell me how to proceed?

Sorry but what are trying to do to upgrade to Fedora 9 ?
If so which fedora version are you using now ?

Sorry, starting from Fedora 8.

If you have a internet connection you can try YUM
But in my opinion a clean install is sometimes better
