Hello guys and Gals,
I have reinstalled Fedora core 4 as I have always had difficulty getting onto the internet.
My problem is currently I cannot get anything to work... if I go to applications and select gimp, for instance -I get a 'starting gimp message in the taskbar and the customary eggtimer icon then after 10 seconds they dissapear and nothing else happens.
I have tried to set my preferences but this doesnt work for instance altering the font type and starting the system monitor-i get the same situation as described for starting Gimp -this happens for virtually everytrhing.
Previously I have managed to get these working on a previous installment of fedora 4 but after a while they started to not respond on that version .That is why I reinstalled FC4,over written .
Id appreciate any ideas and help I can get .

Forgot to add that I am using the gnome desktop .

Try starting the program from the command line (open a console and type the program name) and post back the error message.
