Thanks again

What is this driver update that you are talking about and where in Fedora Forum did you find it? I tried the solution given by masseo1 but the result was the same.

However unlike in your case where the touchpad does not respond, mine happens to be a bit weird. During the startup the touchpad does not respond, but in the login screen when I move my finger rapidly on it, the pointer jumps to someplace in the bottom left corner and produces random left and right button clicks and never comes back to the center of the screen. Just keeps wobbling around in the bottom left corner whenever I move my finger on the touchpad. These are the contents of my /var/log/Xorg.0.log file

I really cannot understand half the crap that is going on in my distro. Synaptics is detected, it fails to load, them ALPS GlidePoint touchpad driver is found, it gets enabled but still the touchpad behaves weirdly. Please Please help me out here!

touchpad help

log in as a root user
open xorg.conf file by giving following command
vi /etc/xorg.conf
delete its entire content and paste the following script:

# Xorg configuration created by pyxf86config

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Default Layout"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
InputDevice "TouchPad" "CorePointer"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
# keyboard added by rhpxl
Identifier "Keyboard0"
Driver "kbd"
Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection

#Another section for Touchpad
Section "InputDevice"

Identifier "Touchpad"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "SendCoreEvents"
Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
Option "TapButton1" "1"
Option "TapButton2" "2"
Option "TapButton3" "3"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "vesa"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Videocard0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
EndSubSection
EndSection

please pay attention,if u r using intel processor then in the above script in the Section "Device", write Driver "intel" instead of Driver "vesa"
