Exclamation Fedora 5 on Laptops

Fedora Core 5 installed fine on my laptop (HP N5430) but I have one problem. The screen is very dim once you start the X Server.

The system dual boots Windows XP as well. In Windows the screen looks like normal.

I had to edit my /etc/X11/xorg.conf to setup my video as it was really messed up after installation. I fixed the resolution and color depth but I need to fix this dim screen problem. It's not a hardware problem it's just that Fedora make it really dim upon the X Server starting.

Thanks for any help....

Hi steveo1979,

Do you think it might be a gamma issue? In the xorg.conf file, in the monitor section you can add a "Gamma" field. I think a value of "1.0" is the default, so maybe "1.5" might help?
