Question FC4: unused hard disks "spin-up" every half an hour

Since updating to FC4 my unused hard disks come up every 30 minutes.

I have two disks with unused and unmounted partitions which I use only randomly.
Still the disks "spin up" every half an hour !?

I set the standby timeout to 5 seconds with "hdparm -S 1 /dev/hdx".
This helped a little since they only spin 5 seconds after coming up.

This is very annoying behaviour.
Any help or suggestions on what could cause this?

Thanks very many.

Take a look at crontab and see if you have any cron job that runs every 30 minutes. If so, it might be the culprit.

No, according to my crontab, cron.hourly is run every one minute past sharp hours.
The disks spin up every 28 minutes 30 seconds past and 1minute 30 seconds to sharp hours.

I've also monitored /var/log/messages but no help there.
Also monitoring "top" ain't helping...

More suggestions???
