FC cannot boot windows xp cd

stats:
os 1: windows xp installed on my c: ntfs partition
os 2: fc 3 installed on partitions created at the end of my hdd

Windows XP was installed before Fedora .
I`m trying to reinstall my win xp now using a win xp bootable cd.
The problem is that the cd won`t boot.Hangs after "Setup is inspecting current hardware configuration"... screen goes blank ..cd stops spinning and there`s a lot of hdd activity.Nothing futher.
Everything works fine if I`m using a Windows 2003 server cd..installs perfectly
It seems FC and Windows Xp are incompatible in some way regarding mbr.
I`ve tried fdisk /mbr using a boot disk before installing but that didn`t work out . And no, there`s nothing wrong with the windows cd if that`s what you`re thinking.
There`s got to be a way get around this.Come on guys .. need some help

well you've got cd as a higher boot priority than your hard drive? no way that your mbr could have anything to do with this all then... does it boot if you actually remove the drive completely, or disable it in your bios?

Now..

Of course i`ve set cd-rom as first boot device.
I`ll try setting the bios so that it doesn`t boot the hdd at all...it doesn`t matter if it works or not because I won`t be able to install windows xp anyway.
Try to explain this:
why does the windows xp cd boot perfectly after i`ve formated the linux partitions containing the fc 3 (keeping the ext2 and swapfile formats) ?
