FC 8 yum error with proxy...

Hi guys,
I have installed fedora8 in my system...It works cool, auto detected all my hardware...i really like the look and feel...But i am facing some problems related to package manager..
Here we have internet connection through LAN using ccproxy software in the server with password authentication...I configured the network and now mozilla works fine...Then I editted the /etc/yum.conf file for the proxy settings....But when i tried to start pirut it shows an error,
"Unable to retrieve software information. This could be caused by not having a network connection available" .Under details tab, it says "Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again"
my yum.conf file is pasted below

[main]
cachedir=/var/cache/yum
keepcache=0
debuglevel=2
logfile=/var/log/yum.log
exactarch=1But i am facing some problems related to package manager
obsoletes=1
gpgcheck=1
plugins=1
metadata_expire=1800
installonly_limit=2

# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d
# The proxy server - proxy serverort number
proxy=http://192.168.1.141:808
# The account details for yum connections
proxy_username=jaan
proxy_password=mypassword

I tried to install through the terminal, the error message is pasted below...

[root@localhost jabir]# yum install xmms
Could not retrieve mirrorlist http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mir...ra-8&arch=i386 error was
[Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error nonnumeric port: '808?'>
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again
[root@localhost jabir]#

somebody please tell me a solution to this.....sorry for my poor language.
Thanks and regards,
JABIR

thank you for your post it has helped I used your lines of

proxy=http://[proxyIP]:[port]/
proxy_username=jaan
proxy_password=mypassword

with the addition of the / at the end and it worked first time
