Hi,

I installed GIMP on my machine. Now I am getting this error.

Unable to open a test swap file. To avoid data loss please check the location and permissions of the swap directory defined in your Preferences (currently "/tmp/.gimp-2.0").

I went into the tmp folder but there was no such folder .gimp-2.0. I tried to create one as su but was unable to. I cannot even uninstall the GIMP. Please help.

Hello Vivek...
You will not be able to create any files or folder in regions owned by root (think of it like system space). Even if you did (by su) then you wont be able to access it anyway. But you have all rights in your own home folder... something like /home/<your name>
To get rid of the error set the path for temporary files to any of the folders in your home dir. I'd suggest making a folder called tmp and then setting the path there. (please read the Gimp documentation to find out how to do that should be in preferences or something)
