DVD iso boot from USB External drive

Hey ya'll. Can't get this to boot, I'm thinking something may need to be change since this drive is a USB DVD drive. I'm brand new to Linux so the going has been rough

but I want to install linux on a brand new 200g hd which I will put in a 1u rack for a server. Any suggestions on how to get this done?

Oh yeah, I'm running a P4 2.8ghz with a mad dogg dvd usb burner. 2g's of PC3200 DDR if it helps.

You haven't said whether your PC can boot from USB directly. If it can, then you should be able to boot directly off the DVD. If it can't you would need to use the set of boot floppy diskettes provided on the DVD, to boot from floppy then let the DVD take over.

I'm an idiot, when I burned the iso file to DVD, I didn't burn it in the form of an image file

Works fine now. Thanks for posting an opinion though
