Dvd Iso

How do you burn a dvd iso? I recently downloaded FC6 and it was the dvd version. So, when I burn it to dvd, will it be bootable and start the installation like cds?

Also when I tried FC3 awhile back, it wouldn't work with my 3com nic(3C59X), which I still use. Does anybody know if that bug was fixed?

Thnx.

Assuming that your DVD burner is /dev/hdc, and you have the x86_g4 version.
Code:
growisofs --dvd-compat -Z /dev/hdc=FC-6-x86_64-DVD.iso
This will operate exactly the same as installatiion from CDs, except you won't be prompted to change CDs

I don't know about your NIC, but FC6 has better hardware detection than previous versions, so you have a better chance of it working. Search google for more. Alternatively, you can get a new NIC for only about $10.

I hope this helps

Not sure about the x86_g4 version. I'll give your instructions a go.

The nic works fine with all other distros I've tried. It just seem FC3 had some issue with that nic at the time. That turned me away from FC up to this point.

I've heard good things about FC6 and would like to check it out.

Thnx.

Well. I have installed fc6 x86_64 version and in my opinion FC6 is worst of them. I have tried all x86_64 versions from FC3. FC6 works better with Intel machines though. Things like CPUspeed works with them. CPUspeed worked in fc3 when I was using my AMD system but didn't work with FC6 ( no EST support ). I disabled CPUspeed daemon in FC3 and then made yum upgrades to FC5 so I do not know if CPUspeed worked in FC4 and FC5.

As my graphics broke I bought new Intel system and now CPUspeed works.

I had no problems with CPU Frequency Scaling on my machine, and I have been quite impressed with FC6 so far. Some minor annoyances, but better than FC5 anyway.

I was able to burn the dvd iso and it seems to went fine. I can view the files/folders on the dvd like normal but it not booting. I'm not sure if bad iso or what.

Thnx.

Under Windows, I've used Deepburner to burn ISOs, it works great, and is easy to use.

If you have access to it, under Ubuntu, I use GnomeBaker. Its int he repositories.

Click Tools/Burn DVD Image, Navigate to the ISO file, burn image.
