i've installed fedora core 2 and i've been trying to enable firewire, but i can't use the "depmod" and "modprobe" commands, they both get bashed. i also tried "/usr/sbin/modprobe", "insmod", "insmod ohc1394", and "rmmod ohc1394", and they all get bashed too. someone suggested that maybe i didn't get my mod-utils, so i got the rpm and tried to install it, but it said i already have it.
if anybody knows what's going on i would really appreicate your help, thanks.
i think i posted this in the wrong forum (fedora installation) before, i'm gonna try this one.

in fedora alot of commands that where normaly in /usr/bin or /usr/sbin have been moved to just /sbin
try /sbin/modprobe, that goes for alot of other commands too like init.
i figured out what the problem was. you must be either physically logged in as root, or instead of typing in "su" type in "su -" and it will work. thanks for trying to help anyway
