can not extract bin files

Hello,

So I'm giving Fedora Core 5 a try. Suse is just no longer working for me. I'm trying to get Java JRE installed. I was directed to d/l a *.bin file. I follow the directions and I get the below output.

"Extracting...
./jre-1_5_0_06-linux-amd64.bin: line 262: ./install.sfx.2446: cannot execute binary file"

The file is executable.

You probably downloaded the file someplace where you don't have execution rights. Or you need to run the file as root, if it is trying to write to system directories. Move the installation program to your home directory and try again. Also, make sure that the execution bit is set:
"chmod +x jre-1_5_0_06-linux-amd64.bin"

I'm embarrassed to say that I was too caught up in thinking of my 64bit laptop when I was working on my 32bit desktop. This is why I could not extract the file.
