Anyone use apt to upgrade to Fedora Core 2 test2

Hi, I really don't like how fedora uses apt, I'm too used to debian and having 3 reasonable choices (stable, testing, sid). Fedora seems to have this GPG thing, so upgrading between releases isn't as easy as debian.. I want to know if anyone has successfully UPGRADED to FC2Test2 using apt or yum and how they did it.. I've tried installing the latest rpm of apt but it has dependancy problems.. Apt in fedora just lacks the ease of upgrading that apt in debian offers.

I haven't done it... I've done fresh installs of both Test 1 and Test 2.

There's an article over at << www.FedoraNEWS.org >> about upgrading FC1 to FC2-T1 with apt, so it must be possible.

I used apt a lot on FC1. I haven't lately because the repos aren't really available for FC2-T. Once FC2 final is released, I'm sure they'll catch up.

I tried that article a while ago, but it didn't work.. I still had some dependancy problems... I just wish fedora structured packages like debian (stable, testing, unstable). having to change the apt repo list, installing new gpg keys, or downloading .iso's makes having apt and using almost pointless..

I did it .. but it only last a day and I'm back to FC1 the next day Not worth going if you've only one PC to play around with .. Anyway, you need to make sure you've RPM and APT upgraded to the latest release or else the upgrade will fail half way after the RPM get upgraded in the process. Check www.fedoranews.org on how to APT upgrade your FC1 to FC2.

stupid

I removed the comment marks to turn off gpg checking... then added the 1.91 repositories to my sources.list. big mistake... as far as I can see, there is no way to just upgrade to fc2test2 with apt.. I tried to upgrade apt and rpm like that article said to, download rpms, attempted to install, I had dependency problems which is weird since I only had fedora.us repositories in my sources.list. As far as I can see, having apt in fedora produces the same results masturbating does.. You're happy to use it, but it leaves you with a false sense of completion. I really wish fedora would just have a STABLE repository so users wouldn't have to download .ISO's all the time... maybe someone could throw one together... perhaps Progeny will throw one together when they port their version of anaconda back to fedora. If they do, I'll be sold.

I did and so far I have had not major problems. Works like a charm and I also use fedora.us and other repositories for my apt source list. I guess the only major issue is learning and understanding selinux and how it is implemented

Good, how did you do it ? Added new repositories ? or downloaded the CD's or do you live next door to a Linux guru and bribed him/her ?

I wish I did but this is what I did. I downloaded apt and synaptic. I ran it for the first time and it ask me to select some repositories. The repositories were already configured for Fedora 1.91.
I ran apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade even since. Almost worked like a charm. I had to disable selinux in grub.conf with my custom kernel.

Looks good but selinux is a pita
