ADSL setup in FC7

I want to setup ADSL modem(in FC7). The setup is i have a RJ11 cable which is connected to the ADSL MODEM whose output is by RJ45 to eth0 of server. my questions are
1) will my server automatically detect the adsl modem if i type adsl-setup.
2) what are the IP i need to assign? The internal network has 192.168.1.1---133.what is the IP number i can assign to eth0 which is connected to ADSl modem??(Remember we are not having static IP from the ISP).

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea. Have you tried it? This is probably a script unique to FC7.

To answer this, and get you going we need to know the make and model of this ADSL modem. Could you post it.

What you are calling a 'modem' sounds much more like a 'modem - router'. Modems convert digital signals to analog signals and visa versa. Routers have IP addresses, and support a lot of different features, they do not modulate and demodulate.

What confuses a lot of people, is the modem/routers ( both in one box ) that are sold today are really two different functions. On your systems side you talk to the router. It will have an IP address you connect to using standard TCP/IP protocol, over ethernet, or USB.

The router function has two sides at a minimum. The ISP side has to be configure for your ISP. Your ISP will have to tell you the parameters to set up there.

Then there is the modem function. That converts the signals to and from the router to analog signals for the adsl line connection.

Most of these modem/routers you configure by opening a web browser on your system, ( after you are physically connected and your ethernet card is enabled ) and typing the ip address of the router in the locater bar.

Just a guess, but try 192.168.1.1 and see what happens. If you get a log on screen, time to find the manual ( probably a PDF file on a CD that came with it ) find the default user and password to get into the configuration.

Now since you posted an IP range of 192.168.1.1--133, I would bet any address from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.133 would work on your system. That should be in the setup instructions in the manual.

Post back the information I asked for if you need more help.

Thank you camorri,
I setup that ADSL modem with the help our ISP, but what you post here gave me some additional knowledge.
Thanks a lot
