Hello. I have a 3Com 3C900B-TPO NIC which has previously worked with all versions of Linux I have thrown at it. However, Fedora during install configures it and such but when it comes time to get online it keeps complaining about a bad cable and that no connection can be made. I have tested the cable though and it's fine so that's not the issue. I have heard other people have had 3Com issues. Can someone please offer any help? Thanks in advance.
If this is the case, you can try disabling "kudzu" as a workaround :
- Change to the root user with the command "su -"
- Disable Kudzu in the runlevels 3, 4 and 5 with the command "chkconfig --level 345 kudzu off"
- Reboot the system.
Note : Kudzu is a program which detects and configures new and/or changed hardware on a system.

how closely related are Fedora Core 1 and Redhat 9? Because two hours ago Redhat 9 worked fine. I had a connection to the internet and everthing was great. Oh ya,... and Redhat 9 set it up for me.
Fedora won't recognize the card and make a connection. Same PC. Same cable modem connection. The plugs and wires never change. I'm sending the message from my XP computer hooked to the same hub and cable modem as the Fedora PC. I'm reinstalling everything. If it still doesn't work thenI'm going to try the bugzilla fix above.
Hello can any body please tell me why when i type in the command "chkconfig --level 345 kudzu off" i get error command not found im running redhat 9
thanks nige
