Wont boot

Ok downloaded Debian cd1 using jigdo, the checksum said it was a perfect copy, i then burnt the iso (as a image) to the cd, and stuck it in my dell latitude cpi laptop, but it just gives me the flashing _ thing in the top corner of the screen, and doesnt actually boot it. The BIOS is set to boot from cd, and i am able to boot liveCD versions such as knoppix and kanotix on this laptop, so i know it isnt because the laptop cant boot from cd. Ive put the cd in the computer im using at the moment, and it does try to autoplay and i can see all the files on the cd, so does anyone know what the problem is?
,thanks

At what speed did you burn it? I have always found that if I try to burn an iso at any speed above 4x, I get problems with the disk.

Have you tried to boot from it on a different machine?

Could the cd be damaged? I don't mean the obvious ones like scratches. Maybe try reburning it?

well if the cd was damaged then i wouldnt be able to read the cd in other computers, i can view the files, and the cd tries to autoplay, so to me that sugguests that the cd is fine :-/

I have had problems booting to cd's that I can read. You should try re-burning it.
