WMV codecs for Xine?

I am a complete newbie at this, but would like to learn and there are some videos I would like to play. Damn all of them for using a biased format!

Anyway, I am using and loving the Xine that came with Knoppix v3.6, but it lacks some of the newer WMV codecs (8+, I believe).

Can someone point me in the direction of a download, and give me a rundown on how to install it? The easier the better!

You may want to take a look at mplayer instead, as it most certainly can play WMV files, including version 9.

Just to add to Wells' post, this page on the mplayer site: http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/codecs.html has a good selection of codec packages to download. I grabbed the one called "essential" to use with XINE and I'm yet to find a video I can't play, there are a lot of other packs there you can try if you still have problems. mplayer is a really good player but all these codecs should work just the same with XINE.
