What to download for install Debian?

Hi there,

Since 2 month I left Windoze definitively and got Knoppix as my only OS. This has allowed me to learn a lot of GNU/Linux, so I fell confident enough to try the "real thing" and go for Debian. The problem is that, when looking for ISOs, it looks like I should download about 7 CDs!! Isn't it too much? I know there are some "minimal bootable cd rooms", but I have only wireless connection so I'm not sure that I'll be able to have internet connection working with one of those CDs. Finally, if the only choice is to download all the CDs: can I hope not to need to burn them, but mount them manually so the installation program can get the files?

Thank you very much in advance...

with wireless, you're not even gauranteed a full install of debian will get you online. you might well need to work on that as a post-install issue.

i highly recommend a net install, you'll just have to update the system after a CD install anyways, why not skip the initial install of outdated packages and just start with everything fresh?

Well... the reason is that if I cannot make my wireless card to work then I'll have no internet... :-(
