the login box is slow to appear

the situation is like tis, the colour background had appeared, but the the login box takes a while to load. below are my rc5.d scripts; ls /etc/rc5.d

I am using kdm, my question is; can i remove
S99rmnologin
S99stop-bootlogd
S99xdm

This might be a font issue. If it is, then running (as root) "fc-cache -fv" and "dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig" might fix it.

i tried removing the scripts and it didnt help at all.
fc-cache -fv did it for me! Thanx!
