sarge installer - missing udeb?

Just made cds for sarge - but can't get too far due to a bug - when running "load installer modules" (opt. 4) I get

Failed to retrieve installer module
Retrieving the module libc-udeb failed for know
reasons. Aborting.

Is there a workaround (putting that module onto a floppy?) or shall I just bin the 6 cds I've just made -

Where do you get cd's for sarge from? The only ones I know about are the cd's for 'stable' and the netinstall iso's.
The sarge installer as found on the sarge netinstall.iso was a mess the last time I tried that - even comes with a warning http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/

According to something I read, somewhere on debian.org, the Sarge installer is broken in important ways (I tried it, too and got noplace). I believe the supported way to get to Sarge is install with the (sad, old, crufty) Woody installer, then dist-upgrade your way to Sarge.
