I am attempting to install Nvidia drivers. I have edited my default run level to 3 since I assume this is non graphical. The problem is, no matter what I change my run level to (except 1), it will boot GDM with a graphical login. I need to know how I can just boot into CLI with starting X so I can install Nvidia drivers. I checked and according to Google:
- 0 = halt
- 1 = single user
- 2 = user defined
- 3 = multiuser
- 4 = user defined
- 5 = multi / GUI
- 6 = reboot
My current run level is 3 in /etc/inittab but my system will auto boot GDM with GUI login.
Please help.
PS - I can't install Nvidia drives on RUN LEVEL 1. It gives me a stern warning saying this is a bad idea so when I #telinit 3, it loads GUI GDM
