i would suggest that you upgrade your kernel to a min of 2.6.x

looks like you are running 2.4.....

so much has changed since and it's recommended that you use that..

what you're gettin is a bit different than i have seen...

look at this link... i spent much time of how to fix this problem on my Dell XPS Debian Box!
