No stream in Amarok or Xine

I'm using Ampache to stream audio from my server. Amarok used to play the streams just fine but since a reinstall of debian I can't get it going again. I'm getting 'no demux plugin' or something as an error.
I've installed about all the plugins that are listed for xine but neither Xine nor Amarok are willing to play. What am I missing? I did notice in apt-buglist that libxine1 has a bug so it might have to do with that but I'm not sure.

I may be off base here but in Suse if you use libxine1, you have to remove xine-lib. You may have acquired xine-lib in your upgrade.

Does amarok, xine or mplayer start at all? Recently after a dist-upgrade I did a "sudo chmod go+rx /usr/lib/tls" to get them running again. Seemed like they couldn't get accel from nvidia.
