Moving from 2.6.16 to 1.5.23.8

Hi

I meant to 2.6.23.8 on the header

in a single phrase: My 2.6.18 kernel image was 1mb and now the 2.6.23.8

kernel image is 1.7mb. I used the same options more less and i want your

opinion on this awkward in my opinion size of the latter.

Another thing, the latest kernels do they get faster since better

programming techniques are used or it gets heavier by the time ?

regards
props

Your title is confusing, the linux kernel seems to get bigger with each release, I don't think any version of the kernel is noticably faster then any other
