mouse wheel in debian


newbie question, using debian sarge with xfree, question is how to get the mouse wheel working on a logitec ps2 mouse,, I tried Zaxismapping but it did not work.. thanks in advance.

Which driver are you using for the mouse ? (perhaps post the Input parts of your XF86Config-4 file, if in doubt).

Of course, if you want a no-brainer method to get it working, just slip in a copy of Knoppix, and copy across the appropriate lines of it's auto-generated XF86Config-4 file

hmmm i too have a logitech ps/2 mouse and never had to setup my mouse, the wheel always worked. are you using the debian-installer (net-installer, the 114meg iso image)? during the setup i always use IMPS/2, instead of PS/2

#dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

on the first mouse screen choose:
PS/2

on the second screen choose:
IMPS/2

on the third screen say YES to Emulate 3-botton mouse

say YES to a new Config-4 file

finish the configuration, reboot.
