Knoppix-Install Ok apt-get Deb=Modem not right

I did a Knoppix-Install and everything was Ok.
We did a broadband apt-get to run more Debian and now I can't use dialup any longer.
I have a Hayes Modem. Since apt-get the modem flashes RD about 2 times per second and
every other time it flashes the SD also flashes. This happens all the time even when I am not
trying to get on-line. But I can't get online. When I boot the liveCD then the modem works
like it should.

I think I have the right isp numbers in my /etc/resolvconf.

Update 04 Sept, 3. I just got on broadband again and everything works great.
Still, can anyone help me use dialup again?

Thanks,
suguru
