kernel version


hey all. cann anybody plz tell me how can i find which kernel version am i using through CLI...

because i just upgraded the kernel to 2.6.16, everything was good, but whenn i reboot, it still says that am using the old version.... thx

Try "uname -a"

yeah it still says that am using the older kernel, but yz' this??? i deleted the symlink "System.map" from boot and created it again with new file and everything but still its showing me the older version,,,plz helppp... and it wasn't the "kernel-image" it's a file named "linux-2.6.16.tar.bz2" from www.kernel.org ... wht could be wrong...?

Well .. you could try and tell us exactly what you did to install the new kernel. Also, as a pointer, try proper English .. people get really discouraged to keep reading what you wrote if it's full of "yz'" "???" (one is enough.. don't sound desperate..) "plz", "helppp", "thx".

Also, did you remember to configure your boot loader to boot the new kernel ?
