Did you do what is described on step 4?
Running
[code]update-alternatives --config usplash-artwork.so[code]
is the only way to choose it and put it in the right place.

Yep, I've done and it doesn't work:
Code:
# sudo update-alternatives --config usplash-artwork.so

There are 3 alternatives which provide `usplash-artwork.so'.

  Selection    Alternative
-----------------------------------------------
          1    /usr/lib/usplash/debian-theme.so
*+        2    /usr/local/lib/usplash/new-splash.so

Press enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number: 2
Using '/usr/local/lib/usplash/new-splash.so' to provide 'usplash-artwork.so'.
# usplash
usplash: No usable theme found for 640x480
                                          screen init failed

The error is here:

"usplash: No usable theme found for 640x480
screen init failed"

Are you using 640x480 in your /etc/usplash.conf? If yes, are you sure that your new-splash.so supports it?

Yep, I have 640x480 in /etc/usplash.conf:
Code:
# cat /etc/usplash.conf
# Usplash configuration file
xres=640
yres=480
and I've created 640x480, but I cannot understand, why usplash doesn't accept.
