I need to rescue some data from my internal drive, and copy it to an external firewire drive. How do I enable firewire support in Kanotix, and am I going to have any permission issues when trying to write to the external drive?

I plugged my firewire in,rebooted and it worked.I know it says "enable firewire support" in boot message but it works.
