But, at least, we determined it wasn't "an outdated laptop" - considering gparted live works without issues. So they won't needlessly buy another one, unless that's what they actually want and can afford.

That's it. I think I can wait for the best opportunity for me to buy another one. I want to buy another Dell, but this time with factory installed Ubuntu or Debian Linux.

Does Dell still sell N-series laptop and netbook computers? I got one years ago, was nicer not have to agree to Microsoft's EULA just by starting the system.
