Gnome 2.4 (sid) install errors

I've been using KDE 3.2 on my Debian sid install. I have major problems with 3 minute delays on there, so I decided to try installing Gnome.

Well, I downloaded all the packages, but my CPU goes to 100% and I get errors and then dependency errors on libgnomevfs2-common, libgnomeui-0 and libbonobui2-0, among others. I tried apt-get -f install, dpkg --configure -a and it won't work. Not sure where to find the error log.

Any ideas how to get this catch 22 situation resolved?

Thanks!

'apt-get install packagename' is a fast method for installing packages that don't have many dependencies but Aptitude and Synaptic are better for newbies because they default to install also recommended packages. Especially in installing large package groups with lots of dependencies, like kde or gnome, you should always use Aptitude or Synaptic.

Right, but I've used apt-get with no issues that I couldn't fix. In any case, all the needed files are there, they just cause my CPU to go to 100%, then errors out. Can't be configured. How do I get those libraries installed?
