GFXBOOT in Debian Lenny

Hi,

I have been through numerous pages online and although i am kind of a newb, I have gone over every step and successfully completed each one and I'm still not getting the graphical GFX boot screen. I installed and configured everything using these guidelines:

First remove your old grub
Code:

sudo apt-get remove grub

Then Install the gfxboot-grub
Code:

sudo dpkg -i grub-gfxboot_0.97-5_i386.deb

then we're going to move the message
Code:

sudo cp message.debian /boot/grub/

Then edit your menu.lst

Code:

sudo cp /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.lst_backup
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

and make it use gfxboot
Code:

gfxmenu /boot/grub/message.debian

Then do :
Code:

sudo grub

grub> find /boot/grub/stage1
(hdx,y) # this will be the output
grub> root (hdx,y)
grub> setup (hdx)

Everything completed successfully but I'm still getting the old grub screen. Is it possible to get a GFXBOOT screen in debian. I got these instructions from a Ubuntu forum, so I'm not sure if GFXBOOT works with Debian. Any help would be appreciated.

hi

your Debian grub must have gfxmenu function otherwise grab the sidux cd and copy over stage2 file and then re-embed

Code:
grep "gfxmenu" /boot/grub/stage2
http://www.sidux.com/index.php?modul...ka&tag=Gfxmenu
