Error in installing kernel image for kernel upgrade in Knoppix-------Help

Hi all
I have installed knoppix 5.1.1 in my SATA HDD's first partition of size around 5.0GB(sda1). I want to upgrade
kernel to 2.6.23.12. For that i have created an kernel_image for 2.6.23.12 with .deb extension using fakeroot.
The problem is when i was installing the kernel image getting problem as

root@Knoppix:/usr/src# dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.23.12_custom.1.0_i386.deb

(Reading database ... 110985 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking linux-image-2.6.23.12 (from linux-image-2.6.23.12_custom.1.0_i386.deb) ...
Done.
dpkg: error processing linux-image-2.6.23.12_custom.1.0_i386.deb (--install):
failed in buffer_write(fd) (8, ret=-1): backend dpkg-deb during ` ./lib/modules/2.6.23.12/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/keyspan.ko': No space left on device
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
linux-image-2.6.23.12_custom.1.0_i386.deb

When i ran df -h ,

root@Knoppix:/usr/src# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 3.4M 23K 3.4M 1% /
/ramdisk 801M 780M 22M 98% /ramdisk
/UNIONFS 801M 780M 22M 98% /UNIONFS

/dev/cloop 2.0G 2.0G 0 100% /KNOPPIX
/dev/sdb1 990M 896M 94M 91% /media/sdb1 --------> flash media

In /usr/src folder i just deleted the linux-2.6.23.12.tar.bz2. Then i ran

root@Knoppix:/usr/src# dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.23.12_custom.1.0_i386.deb

After that getting error as posted below,

Error running the boot loader in test mode. │
│ │
│ An error occurred while running the boot loader lilo in test mode. A log is available │
│ in /var/log/lilo_log.22100. Please edit /etc/lilo.conf manually and re-run lilo, or │
│ make other arrangements to boot your machine.

In my HDD, the bootloader is grub. I dont know how to proceed. Can anyone help me.
Thanks in advance.
