Debian on Thinkpad T22

Hi,

I just installed Sarge on my Thinkpad T22 with netinstaller. The base system installed very nicely and now I'm configuring the system. If anybody could help me out with the following two questions that would be great:

1. The max screen resolution that I can get so far is 1024x768, even if I select higher resolutions in the XF86 setup utility. Does anybody know if the S3 Savage driver can handle a higher resolutions and if so how I can set up XF86 to recognize it?

2. I installed WindowMaker with 'apt-get install wmaker', but I can't get it to run. When I try to start a WindowMaker session from login I get the error message:

"install: cannot stat `/etc/GNUstep/Defaults/WMState': No such file or directory"

and the login fails. Also here's the output of dpkg -l wmaker:

lantern@debianlap:~$ dpkg -l wmaker
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name Version Description
+++-==============-==============-============================================
ii wmaker 0.91.0-2 NeXTSTEP-like window manager for X

Anybody have suggestions how to deal with this?

Thanks,
lantern

hi there,

concerning your second issue, try to find the default GNUstep directory in your machine.
Code:
cd /
find . -name "WMState" -print
this can take a lot of time. if you find something, copy the directory of GNUstep to your home.
Code:
cp -r /wherever-you-find/GNUstep /home/$YOUR_USER
regards

does the t22 have the 14.1" screen? if so, i believe you are going to be limited to 1024x768.
